EDUFIRMA SDN BHD
Joyce started as a client of Starjump back in early 2005. After running around and struggling to find someone who could tell her why Janet (her younger daughter) was not learning, she finally got the answer at Starjump. The first thing Maxine said after the assessment was that Janet had visual processing issues which definitely had to be corrected before any improvements on learning could be seen.
This one piece of advice, against many others who had chipped in to say that at the age of 16 it was virtually impossible to do anything especially when Janet was also assessed as being intellectually challenged, proved to be the key to the changes that started to take place in Janet's life. Continuous visits to the vision correction specialist in Melbourne as recommended by Maxine, helped Janet improve her posture as well as her reading and writing ability. Tracking during reading and spacing during writing were tasks that now became easier for Janet.
Inspired by the changes that were taking place in Janet and observations of work done by Maxine on other kids recommended by Joyce, inspired Joyce to leave her corporate job to establish Starjump in Malaysia and in furture into the rest of the ASEAN countries.
The first Starjump Centre began its operations in Malaysia in 2008 with a group of pilot students. The centre officially opened for student intakes in August of the same year. By this time, Joyce was convinced that Starjump would address the needs of kids who fall in between the intellectually challenged and academically gifted. Joyce left her corporate job to work on Starjump full time. Today Starjump has students who attend the classes at the Starjump Centre in Cheras as well as at a satellite centre in Klang.
Due to the demand and the need to help kids who require or could benefit from Starjump's program but are unable to attend classes in either Cheras or Klang, Joyce started the implementation of e-classes in April 2010. Today there are students in Puchong, Malacca, klang and Penang who have started on e-classes.
With the difficulty Joyce has gone through with Janet, it is her dream and hope that other parents will benefit from her experience and have their children's learning difficulties addressed early and at an affordable price. This will be the motor for Edufirma Sdn Bhd, the Master Licensee for Starjump in ASEAN region.
